The Ritz
Ensemble comprises Violin, piano, ’cello and double bass. They are the resident string ensemble at the Ritz Hotel in
London.
They recently played at the Queen’s 8th Birthday celebrations at the Ritz. All of the players have played
with the top British Orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra and BBC Symphony Orchestra.
The repertoire
is grouped into three sections.
1.
Waltzes: There
are approximately 50 waltz sets e.g. from Blue Danube, Johann Strauss to The
Westminster Waltz, Leroy Anderson.
2.
Short pieces known as Entractes: approximately 200 ranging
from Bach to Bacharach.
3.
Selections: Approximately
100 ranging from West End shows, My Fair Lady to Edward German.
In
addition to the above, the ensemble can also play middle of the road, easy listening music, from memory. 95% of requests are catered for.
The Ritz Ensemble prefers to perform with a grand piano, however, they can provide a keyboard although
the sound will not be quite the same as on the CD sample. The Ritz Ensemble are very happy to discuss ideas with you. They
will play for up to three hours with suitable breaks. They require refreshments at the breaks.
